COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) "Jesus" stabbed "the devil" on a Colorado Springs street corner Wednesday afternoon.
So a says a witness who showed up at the bloody scene as officers were trying to arrest the suspect.
"[I] walked into what appeared to be a scene of several officers arresting an individual and people cleaning blood off of themselves," Andrew Morgado said.
The stabbing happened around 1 p.m. outside a convenience store on the corner of Platte Avenue and Institute Street.
"Seems an individual went off and claimed to be Jesus Christ stabbing the victim, claiming he was the devil," Morgado told 11 News.
Susie Ann Cordova was at the Kwik Stop when she heard commotion out by the ice machine.
"The big guy got [the other man] by the neck and took him to the door. The other one took out a knife and stabbed him. The big guy started saying, 'I'm going to die!' The other guy that stabbed him kept saying, 'You shouldn't have hurt me! You shouldn't have hurt me!'"
Cordova said she tried to calm the victim down, while an employee at the Kwik Stop got paper towels and held them to the victim's wounds.
The victim was later taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. The suspect was detained. He has not been identified.
It's unclear if the men knew each other.
Morgado said he was shaken up after the incident.
"This is supposed to be a safe street corner spot...the idea that somebody would do this on a Wednesday afternoon is absolutely horrifying. The idea you can’t simply go out and do laundry without someone getting stabbed is terrifying.”
