Wedding dress stolen during burglary in Colorado Springs
A wedding dress and veil worth thousands of dollars was stolen from a Colorado Springs business this week, but the monetary value doesn't compare to the sentimental value it carries.
The crime happened either late Thursday night or early Friday morning at the Borg-Warner Clothing Care store on the southeast side of Colorado Springs. The business is off Peterson Road and Palmer Park Boulevard. The criminals got away with more than the dress, they nabbed important financial information for the business and a number of personal materials belonging to other customers.
Demar Hightower posted pictures of the dress on Facebook Friday evening hoping it could help track down the criminals.
"We just want to get the dress back," Hightower pleaded over the phone to 11 News. "It's not just about the money. They also stole memories."
on the Facebook post.
"As you can guess we are both devastated..." Hightower posted. "If you all can share this post so local business owners/ pawn shops can see what the dress looks like, we are praying that we can get it back. Along with the dress her veil was also taken (as seen in the photos) It is a size 2 from Something New Boutique. If anyone has any information on the dress or the person that took it we are offering a reward. Thank you in advance to all those who share this post. & we will keep you updated as time goes on."
If you have any information on this crime, or have seen the wedding dress for sale, call the El Paso County Sheriff's Office at 719-520-7100 and reference case number 19-6232.
