COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - UPDATE (9/14): Colorado Springs Utilities confirms Union completely reopened at 8 a.m. Saturday.

PREVIOUS (8/13): Crews worked through the night Thursday into Friday to fix a water main break in Colorado Springs.

The water main broke at North Union Boulevard near North Circle Drive Thursday evening close to rush hour, which caused major traffic issues. Around 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Colorado Springs Utilities reported people can expect crews at the scene through Friday morning.

The break caused the full closure of northbound Union with one lane of southbound Union open. By 5 a.m. Friday, one northbound lane of Union had opened and all southbound lanes of Union were back open.

Two northbound lanes of Union remained closed Friday morning because of a gaping hole in the road where crews had to dig to fix the 12-inch water main.

CSU hasn't said what caused the main to break.
