SAFETY TIPS FROM THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE

- Parents should monitor their children's social media and teach their kids how to be safe online. In addition to the tips below, please visit ConnectSafely.org.

- Monitor the websites, apps and games that your children play and use. Make sure they are age appropriate. If they have parental settings, use them.

- Turn off chat rooms, especially in games, as predators lurk there.

- Consider downloading the free app, OurPact, on your child's phone. The app allows parents to block texts and apps, like Facebook, Snapchat, music and YouTube, at any time with a push of a button.
Don't allow children to use their real names, dates of birth or other identifying information in their user name. For example, don't use Jack011506. Instead, have them create a fake name like Mandy2019.
