Kaitlin Golden, 29, is facing felony charges after failing to remain at the scene.
The 15-year-old victim was trick-or-treating in the area of East Cellini Drive in Pueblo West when she was struck Halloween night and was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Authorities asked the public to be aware of a vehicle with damage to the front-right bumper or fender.
Friday, deputies got a break in the case when they received a tip that led them to a home near the crash site. They discovered a 2012 gray Chevrolet Impala at the home that had recent damage on the front end of the vehicle. Golden allegedly claimed she recently hit a deer in Castle Rock.
After a search warrant for Golden's home was executed on Saturday morning, detectives found that Golden's vehicle was linked to the accident.
Golden was arrested and has been booked in the Pueblo County Jail.
The sheriff's office thanked the public for its assistance in providing the valuable information that led to the arrest of the suspect in this case.
“This was a senseless tragedy. We are thankful for all the public’s assistance in helping us identify the suspect. We offer our prayers for a speedy recovery for this young lady.”
The sheriff's office did not provide an update on the victim's condition Saturday, only stating that she had been airlifted to Colorado Springs for further treatment.
