After several days on the run, authorities say they have captured one of two escaped inmates.

Kyle Pauley, 31, was arrested in Sanford, Colorado after allegedly leading state troopers on a short chase and then trying to hide in an irrigation ditch.

A Sanford resident reportedly noticed a man matching Pauley's description walking through town early Tuesday morning and notified Colorado State Patrol. Pauley and fellow escapee Lawrence Gonzales had been at large since escaping from the Conejos County jail in Antonito at the start of March.

The last place Gonzales was sighted was in Antonito. He is described as a Hispanic man, 5-foot-9 and about 165 pounds. He was arrested for intimidation/stalking and drug possession.

The community is asked to call 911 immediately if Gonzales is seen. Do not approach him. If the community has any questions they are asked to email conejossheriff@co.conejos.co.us.

Conejos County is on the south side of the state and borders New Mexico.
