BOUNTIFUL, Utah (KKTV) - A Utah teen brought a 12-gauge shotgun to a school on Thursday and fired a shot into the ceiling. Police are crediting a teacher and student for talking to the 15-year-old boy, buying time for his parents to arrive and disarm him.
Bountiful police Chief Tom Ross said the teenager pointed the shotgun at his neck before his parents managed to bring him into a hallway and remove two loaded weapons he'd taken from the family's home.
Police believe the teen hid the shotgun under his coat when he first walked into the school. He was also carrying two boxes of ammunition.
The teen has been booked into juvenile detention on suspicion of two felony counts of firearm theft along with two misdemeanor counts of taking a weapon inside a school
Authorities are not releasing the teen's name because he is a juvenile.
