COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Three people affiliated with UCCS are currently self-isolating after being in direct contact with a confirmed positive coronavirus case.
A spokesperson for the university told our news partners at The Gazette that the buildings impacted -- Centennial Hall and Columbine -- are currently being extensively cleaned.
The university has not said if the three in self-isolation are students, faculty, staff or a combination of the three.
The school confirmed last week a student was being tested for the virus. The results are still pending as of Monday due to the volume of tests across the state.
“With the increase in testing, it’s slowed down the results,” spokesperson Jared Verner told The Gazette. “We haven’t heard a positive or negative result yet.”
Assistant Vice Chancellor for Marketing and Communications Chris Valentine told 11 News last week that “With the increase in testing, it’s slowed down the results,” Verner said. “We haven’t heard a positive or negative result yet.” the student "barely" met criteria for needing to be tested for the virus. The student had experienced some symptoms but could not confirm if that student had traveled out of the country.
The university switched to online instruction Monday. Next week, school is on spring break.
