PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) - Two women were behind bars Sunday morning after police found a stolen car in a local hotel parking lot.

Just before 1 a.m., officers said they were scoping out a hotel on the north side of Pueblo when they noticed a temporary tag that "didn't look right."

After investigating, police were able to confirm that the tags on the vehicle were fake.

One woman was already in the car, and officers were able to track down a second woman in one of the hotel rooms.

Police questioned both of the women about the vehicle and said they had "very different stories."

The car was indeed reported stolen and the two women were later arrested.

Officers said the vehicle would be returned to the proper owner.
