'Twisted like pretzels': Storm damages Lake Pueblo's North Shore Marina
An intense windstorm tossed boats around like toys and upended several docks at Lake Pueblo's popular North Shore Marina Saturday.
Colorado Parks and Wildlife says the marina is closed indefinitely while rangers assess the damage.
“The main dock was pushed up and crumpled by the winds and waves,” said Monique Mullis of CPW in a statement. "You can’t even reach the rest of the docks. It’s very unsafe. We can’t allow people into the marina at this point.”
The North Marina took the brunt of the damage from the wind Saturday. The North Ramp and South Marina only sustained minor damage and are open Sunday.
Storms Saturday wreaked havoc elsewhere in Pueblo, with three cars getting stuck under the railroad overpass on 29th Street just east of the interstate. Police tell 11 News all involved were able to get out on their own. The road remains closed Sunday as crews work to clear mud and debris.
