FALCON, Colo. (KKTV) - For the first time, a Tillman Honor Run will be held in Colorado Springs.

The run supports the Tillman Scholar Program. Pat Tillman was killed in action serving in the United States Army while in Afghanistan in 2004. He played in the NFL before leaving his pro football career behind to join the Army in June of 2002. He joined the Army Rangers and served several combat tours before he was killed. Tillman was an ASU grad.

A scholarship program was created by the Pat Tillman Foundation. Every year, the Pat Tillman Foundation receives thousands of applications from military veterans and their spouses nationwide.

The ASU Alumni Southern Colorado Club is hosting the run/walk to raise money for the scholarship program.
