The Written Ward - Last Day Without Di
This is it. A final day with no Di.
My co-anchor Dianne Derby has been gone for 12 weeks now, for the best possible reason. She’s been busy bringing Baby Claire into the world! At 11 News we are all thrilled for Dianne and her family.
Anchoring a newscast can be a tricky thing on a busy day when there are lots of last-minute changes, or when there is big breaking news. We have wonderful producers, directors and managers at 11 News, and our reporters and photographers do an incredible job every day. With all that support, the solo newscasts have gone pretty well. It’s always better with Dianne than without her.
It’s been a long time since we've worked together, and we’ll finally anchor together again on Monday.
Sometimes as a little joke, when one of us has been on vacation for a week or so, we’ll sing a little bit of the old Peaches & Herb song “Reunited” when we get back on the news desk. We will probably do that on Monday – a little P&H by Don and Di – but that part won’t be on TV – and that’s really for the best!
I’ll see you Monday on TV – with Dianne, and that makes me very happy!
We’ll talk again soon.
