Suspect rams cruiser while trying to flee police

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A man passed out in a Kum & Go parking lot woke up to see officers at his window, and in a panic rammed a cruiser as he tried to flee.

Springs police are still looking for the suspect Thursday morning.

Officers responded to the Kum & Go at Chestnut and Fillmore just after 11 p.m. to check on the suspect, who had been seen sleeping inside his vehicle. Police knocked on his car window and the man woke up. He looked at the officers, shifted his gear into reverse and backed into the cruiser, then hopped the curb in front of the gas station and peeled out of the lot.

Police say a later check of his plates revealed they didn't match up with the car he was in. The vehicle has been described as a dark-colored SUV that may have some damage to its rear. A suspect description has not been released.

The cruiser's front bumper was damaged but the car is still driveable, the police department said. No officers were hurt.
