An armed robber is in custody after police caught him swimming in Prospect Lake Tuesday morning.
The man was one of two who police say threatened a clerk at gunpoint at the nearby 7-Eleven on South Hancock overnight, then stole cigarettes and cash. After robbing the store, neither of them went very far.
A police dog sniffed out one of the men, who was found hiding in a tree around Memorial Park.
The swimmer was spotted coming out of the lake a short time later.
Police have identified the men as Jacob Edwards and Jaron Jones. Both are 18 years old.
Jones has been connected to a robbery on May 27th at a 7-Eleven on South 8th Street. In that case, he allegedly sprayed a clerk with pepper spray, then helped himself to cigarettes.
