Colorado Springs police are investigating an armed robbery that happened in the Briargate area early Friday morning.

Officers said they responded to a robbery alarm at the Valero Corner Store on Research Parkway around 12:48 a.m.

According to police reports, the clerk told officers three suspects wearing masks and black clothing walked in and demanded items from her. Police say at least two of the three suspects had handguns and threatened the clerk with them.

The suspects were able to get away with some items from the store, but police have not said what those items are.

Officers on scene told 11 News they are reviewing surveillance video and collecting evidence to try to figure out who the suspects are.

“Our concern is, obviously, if they commit robberies at other locations,” Sgt. Dan Carter said. “So we’d like to get them off the street as quickly as possible.”

An 11 News photographer on scene captured video of police officers using a K-9 to track the suspects.

Police ask anyone with information on this robbery to report it to the police department at 444-7000 or call Crime Stoppers at 634-STOP to remain anonymous.
