COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A wanted man was behind bars Friday after Colorado Springs police arrested him while on an unrelated call.

The police department said officers spotted Zachary Burns in the area of 19th and Uintah around 3:40 p.m. Thursday. Burns was wanted for multiple violent felony arrest warrants, according to police.

Officers said the Tactical Enforcement Unit and K9 officers were called to the scene. When the SWAT team tried to contact Burns, police said he took off.

The police department said the SWAT officers chased Burns toward K9 Kylo. The K9 handler released the dog when Burns wouldn’t stop running. Once Burns saw the dog coming at him, police said he dove on the ground and said he surrendered. The K9 handler called the dog back.

Police said Burns was not hurt by the dog and only got a few minor cuts from diving to the ground.

Earlier this week, a man named Zachary Burns was featured in Monday’s Most Wanted on homicide charges.
