OXFORD, Colo. (KKTV) - A southwestern Colorado man shot and killed his girlfriend, then turned the gun on himself.
Law enforcement found the grisly scene around 4:30 a.m. Sunday after responding to reports of gunshots inside the Oxford, Colorado home. After failing to contact anyone inside the home, SWAT was called to the scene in case of a standoff situation, The Cortez Jornal reports. After continuing silence from the residents, a tactical robot was sent into the home. The bodies of 57-year-old Edward Ogden and 63-year-old Gloria Casias were then discovered. Casias had been shot multiple times
A spokesperson with the La Plata County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to the home the night before after Ogden reported being assaulted by his girlfriend's son-in-law. Deputies did not find enough evidence to charge anyone. Ogden told deputies then t
Burke says authorities with the sheriff's office spoke to the couple earlier in the weekend after Ogden reported that a member of Casias' family had assaulted him. Burke says there was not enough evidence to pursue a criminal charge. Ogden then reportedly told law enforcement he'd stay in Mancos that night, a town 40 miles from Oxford, and was seen driving in that direction as deputies wrapped up at the house.
