'Sooper-sized' King Soopers opening in Colorado Springs
A King Soopers fit for a royal is on its way to Colorado Springs.
Almost double the size of a typical Soopers, the King Soopers Marketplace will make its debut Wednesday morning as the new anchor of the Claremont Ranch Marketplace shopping center on Constitution and Marksheffel.
The newest addition to the Springs' grocery store scene will carry the usual selection found at any King Soopers, and will also boast general merchandise more typical to a Walmart or Target. In addition, news partner The Gazette reports it will have a deli, bakery, specialty food bars, a Starbucks with an outdoor seating area, drive-thru pharmacy and 18 gas pumps.
It will also bring 250 new full and part-time jobs to Colorado Springs.
The store will be 124,000 square feet versus the 65,000 to 75,000-square-foot size of most King Soopers. It is the 10th marketplace to open in Colorado and the first in Colorado Springs. It's unknown if other King Soopers Marketplaces will open elsewhere in Colorado Springs.
King Soopers Marketplace opens at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
