Arrests made for shooting at Castle Rock King Soopers

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. (KKTV) - Multiple arrests were made tied to a shooting that happened at a Castle Rock grocery store on Aug. 6.

Police are reporting the shooting happened at about 7 p.m. following some sort of disturbance between the suspects and victim. The victim has since been released from the hospital and is recovering at home.

On Thursday, police announced two people were arrested, Hugo Vazquez-Topete of Aurora and Benito Bautista of Denver. The pair face a number of charges including first-degree attempted murder. They could face 16 to 48 years in prison.

“It is always encouraging to see great efforts pay off when agencies combine forces and bring violent criminals to justice.” Stated Castle Rock Chief of Police Jack Cauley. “I am proud of all the hard work that went in to getting these individuals off the street and making our community a safer place.”

One of the suspects reportedly tried to run from Denver Police Thursday afternoon before he was caught.
