Shooting outside of a Colorado high school Tuesday night under investigation

SHERIDAN, Colo. (KKTV) - Police are investigating a shooting that happened in a high school parking lot south of Denver Tuesday night.

Sheridan Police tweeted out a few details on the shooting at about 9:20 p.m. stating a victim was taken to the hospital and the suspect was at large.

"Please avoid the area so officers and deputies can work this situation," Sheridan Police tweeted.

The shooting happened at Sheridan High School, 3201 W. Oxford Avenue. A home volleyball game for Sheridan was scheduled for Tuesday night at 6 p.m. against Bruce Randolph. It isn't clear if the match was still taking place at the time of the shooting or if it happened after.

Sheridan is just south of Denver in Arapahoe County.
