SECURITY-WIDEFIELD, Colo. (KKTV) - Authorities have identified the man found shot to dead inside a Security apartment Tuesday night.

Oscar Martinez, 42, was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside an apartment at the Marquette Heights complex. Sheriff's deputies found Martinez's body while investigating reports of shots heard in the area of 500 Security Blvd.

The El Paso County Sheriff's Office says it's investigating the shooting as a homicide.

"We do not have any suspect information, so it's always best that the surrounding areas and neighborhoods be vigilant if they see anything out of the ordinary," said El Paso County Sheriff's spokeswoman Jacqueline Kirby. "You know your neighborhoods best. We'd rather check up on something that seems suspicious or out of the ordinary than to have something else happen."

11 News talked to Theo Davis, two-year resident of the Marquette Heights apartment complex. He says he was surprised to hear what happened.

"Usually its pretty quiet around this area and so you don't see much from that, so hearing stuff like this, you're like, 'Oh my God, you know, what happened? What's going on? Is everyone OK?' So it's surprising, it's kind of surprising," Davis said.

Detectives tell 11 News they are talking with nearby businesses and looking through surveillance cameras for potential suspect information.
