14 and 15-year-old arrested for reportedly trying to kill a Colorado Springs Police officer

Two teenagers are facing charges for allegedly trying to kill a Colorado Springs Police officer.

Police announced the arrests of a 14 and 15-year-old on Friday tied to a shots fired call in late March. Officers had been in and out of the Fountain Boulevard and Chelton Road area on March 26 at night investigating multiple reports of gunshots in the area. Just before 3:20 in the morning on March 27, police heard another round of shots go off in the direction of Fountain and Murray boulevards.

Police report officers went to investigate and came across a small, boxy maroon SUV moving erratically across the roadway. The driver peeled off after seeing the approaching police cruisers. Officers began searching the area for the SUV.

A short time later, an officer noticed the suspect vehicle speeding towards him. As the vehicle passed the cruiser, the driver abruptly swerved and a passenger shot at the officer, according to police. The shooter missed, and the officer was unhurt.

On April 15, detectives arrested the two juveniles. Both are facing a charge of criminal attempt first-degree murder of a peace officer.
