Sexually violent predator convicted of sex assault on a child moves into new Colorado neighborhood

CANON CITY, Colo. (KKTV) - UPDATE: (7/10/19): The Cañon City Police Department notified the community Wednesday that a sexually violent predator was moving to a new address within city limits.

According to police, Howard Alley will be moving to 612 Harding Avenue. He was convicted of sexual assault on a child in June 2003.

PREVIOUS STORY (5/23/19): Police in Cañon City sent out an alert to the public on Thursday that a sexually violent predator was moving to an address within city limits.

Howard Alley, who is pictured at the top of this article, is residing at 2949 Central Avenue. He was convicted of sexual assault on a child. He was found guilty of the crime on June 12, 2003.

Police sent out the following statement:

This information is being provided to the public, pursuant to Colorado Revised Statute 16-22-111. Any action taken by you towards a registered sex offender, including vandalism of property, verbal or written threats of harm or physical assault against this person, his or her family or employer can result in your arrest and prosecution. You must contact the Canon City Police Department or Fremont County Sheriff's Office immediately if you believe a crime is being, or will be committed. We encourage the public to have open, honest, communication with their children about this issue and remember the following:
•Avoid scary details
•Use language that is honest and age appropriate
•Teach them not to harass or visit the offender’s home or yard
•Teach them to tell a safe adult if anyone acts inappropriately towards them (creepy, too friendly, threatening, etc.).
