MONUMENT, Colo. (KKTV) - A highway is back open and power is restored to more than a dozen customers following an incident with a semi Friday near Monument.

The semi hit power lines while traveling on Highway 105 just west of Roller Coaster Road during the Friday evening rush hour. Power was knocked out for hours for 16 customers living a neighborhood just north of Highway 105 between Martingale Road and Arrowwood Drive. The roadway was closed so crews could clean up the scene.

State Patrol told 11 News the driver kept going after hitting the lines, but may not have realized the damage they caused. He was later located and cited with damaging highway structure.

The highway reopened around 3:15 a.m. Saturday. Mountain View Electric's outage map showed power restored to all affected customers before 8 a.m.
