School put on lockdown while police search for kidnapping suspect


COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - The search for a kidnapping suspect prompted a lockdown at a northeast Springs elementary school, police confirmed with 11 News.

The suspect reportedly kidnapping his significant other Thursday morning. She was found safe, but his whereabouts remain unknown.

Officers were tipped off the suspect could be in the area of North Carefree Circle and Picturesque Circle and recommended to District 11 nearby Carver Elementary School be put on lockdown as a precaution. The district said all students and staff were safe during the lockdown, which was lifted at 9:15 a.m.

As of 12:30 p.m., police have still not located the suspect, though they have received tips regarding different areas of town. Besides Picturesque Circle, they have also searched near Frost Lane and Pikes Peak Avenue.

No information about the suspect has been released.
