School canceled after gas line is hit at Fountain Middle School

Classes were canceled for the day at Fountain Middle School after a gas line was hit Tuesday morning.
Students tell 11 News they first heard the fire alarm go off, thinking it was just a drill. They were later transported by buses to Fountain-Fort Carson High School. Students had to wait in the baseball fields for their parents.
District 8 says the break was significant enough that it'll take some time to fix, so as a precaution the students were evacuated. The district says they evacuated the school as a precautionary measure. They wanted to make sure their students and staff were safe before anything else.
The construction workers on the scene were able to repair the leak around 5 p.m.
District 8 says school will resume Wednesday as normal.
