Salida substitute teacher arrested for sexual assault allegations


SALIDA, Colo. (KKTV) - A substitute teacher in Salida was arrested Thursday night for sexual assault charges.

Salida Police Department announced the arrest of 70-year-old Wayne Zulla from Howard. He's a substitute teacher out of Salida Middle School.

He's facing several charges including, sex assault, sex assault on a child, unlawful sexual conduct, child abuse, harassment and third-degree assault.

The investigation involved interviews with several students, leading to an arrest warrant.

Zulla was arrested Thursday around 9:15 p.m. He was taken into custody without incident. A mugshot was not immediately available.

Zulla is now being held at the Chaffee County Detentions Facility on a cash-only bond of $10,000. He's expected to be in court February 27.
