Rollover crash shuts down busy road in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Police were looking for a driver that was involved in a rollover crash late Thursday night.

The accident happened near the 100 block of North Academy Boulevard, which is right next to Pikes Peak Avenue.

Officers said they found a white Pontiac Grand Prix, flipped over and blocking two northbound lanes on N. Academy.

Investigators believe the driver of the Pontiac "fled the area on foot" after causing a collision with a silver Hyundai.

Witnesses told police that the driver was a white man wearing a red shirt, and limped away from the scene.

Officers reported that the other driver suffered minor injuries. Police searched for the driver of the Pontiac, but were unable to find them.

Northbound lanes of N. Academy were closed at Pikes Peak Avenue while police investigated and cleaned up the accident. The closures stayed in place for more than 7 hours, but the lanes have since reopened.
