TRINIDAD, Colo. (KKTV) - Police in Colorado received a report of a juvenile armed with a gun in a high school on Thursday and immediately responded.
The Trinidad Police Department says they received the report at about 1:30 p.m. Staff immediately placed the schools on lockdown.
Officers were able to locate and detain a suspect. The suspect did not have a weapon, according to police, and was released to his parents.
After a search of the school grounds, no weapons were located and the lockdown was lifted.
“The teachers and staff followed the lockdown procedure very quickly and was really a textbook execution of the protocol,” said Chief Charles Glorioso.
