COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV)- Colorado Springs Utilities is offering locals to recycle old holiday lights with them through Dec. 23.

Participants can receive up to $15 towards the purchase of ENERGY STAR LED lights at ACE Hardware stores. *One $5 coupon per strand exchanged. Limit of three coupons per customer.*

This can be done at the Conservation and Environmental Center, at 2855 Mesa Rd. It is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., except holidays.

All lights will be recycled with proceeds benefiting Project COPE, which provides utilities payment assistance to families or individuals struggling due to a personal crisis or emergency, regardless of income.

They say that some of the benefits of LED lights are that they are safer, sturdier, longer lasting, and less expensive to power.
