COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - An RV fire posed a potentially dangerous situation for firefighters early Sunday afternoon.
The RV was burning on the side of the road near the Mesa Road and Uintah Street intersection when crews reached the scene around 1:40 p.m. Smoke was visible for miles and reporting parties said large explosion sounds were coming from the RV.
"It being an RV, there could have been propane cylinders, tires, items of such that could explode," said CSFD Capt. David Broch.
The fire department successfully got the flames under control, then remained on scene for hours after to monitor hot spots and to investigate the scene.
At this point, it is still unclear if the RV was parked on the side of the road when it caught on fire or if someone was driving the RV.
"We're just trying to determine if it's a vehicle issue or an arson issue," Broch said.
No injuries were reported in connection to this accident.
