Pueblo county commissioners say animal services bid was treated like any other contract

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) The contract to run Pueblo Animal Services is near the end. It expires at the end of this year.

One group interested in running it was No Kill Learning. That group just backed out this week, and they’re putting the blame on Pueblo County.
In a press conference on Facebook live, the group announced the county wasn’t being transparent and wasn’t giving out information needed to make a bid.

The county says that’s not the case, and they did everything by the books when it comes to this bid.

“I say with 100% confidence that this process has been handled just as every other county the hundreds of other county contract that move through the procurement office throughout the entire year,” said Garrison Ortiz, one of the Pueblo County Commissioners

Groups have until the end of next week to submit their bid. The shelter is currently being run by the Pikes Peak Humane Society.
