COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Bagpipers and drummers filled the streets of downtown Colorado Saturday night to honor professional firefighters and paramedics who have died in the line of duty.
The procession has become a tradition for the firefighters and paramedics who have died in the line of duty. At this year’s memorial service, the IAFF added 196 fallen firefighters from the United States and Canada to the Wall of Honor. Each year the event brings the firefighting community together.
"This is the most incredible experience that I've ever been to," Cheryl Swift said.
Swift traveled all the way to Seattle to honor her late husband, whose name was added to the memorial wall this year.
The Fallen Firefighter Memorial honors the sacrifice made by IAFF members who have given their lives in the line of duty.
