Carson Middle School confirms increased security on campus Tuesday as administrators and law enforcement investigate a Safe2Tell tip.

Early on, there were concerns the threat was directed at Carson Middle School, but a Fountain-Fort Carson District 8 spokesperson says that is no longer the case.

An unsubstantiated comment threatening to shoot up an unnamed school has been circulating online. D-8 spokesperson Christy McGee said it's not clear where the threat originated from, and it may not be from Colorado. A Carson student saw the comment online and reported it to anonymous tipline Safe2Tell.

Carson Middle School has increased security as a precaution, but the district does not believe there is any threat against the school.

In a separate incident, Harrison School District 2 confirms a possible threat against Fox Meadow Middle School was investigated Monday and was found to not be credible. The District 2 spokesperson said she spoke with McGee but was not sure if the Fox Meadow student who called in the tip saw the same online message as the Carson student, or if it was a different rumor entirely.

She said the district sent out a notice to parents about the incident Monday, and that school was normal Tuesday.
