FOUNTAIN, Colo. (KKTV) - A student is facing disciplinary action for allegedly making a school threat as a joke.
A spokesperson for School District 8 tells 11 News Fountain-Fort Carson High School caught wind of a "vague" threat overnight and contacted the Fountain Police Department. During the investigation Thursday, school went on as normal, but there was a heightened police presence on campus.
Eventually, the district says the student who sent the threat was found and told law enforcement it wasn't a real threat. The spokesperson tells 11 News the student will be punished but did not elaborate further.
Fountain-Fort Carson High School has extra police on campus Thursday after a threat against the school began circulating overnight.
A district spokesperson says right now, Fountain police believe the threat is unsubstantiated, but are still investigating. She was unable to give specifics on the threat, telling 11 News it was "vague" in nature.
The school is not on any special security status Thursday. The district says other than the extra officers, school Thursday is as normal.
