Police have arrested one of two men believed to be connected to a fatal shooting over the weekend.

Haywood Miller Jr., 24, was arrested Tuesday, just hours after Springs police announced they were looking for him. He has been booked into the El Paso County jail, according to online records.

Miller and 25-year-old Richard Spanks are both wanted for first-degree murder. Spanks remains at large.

Spanks and Miller are accused of shooting two men Saturday night, leaving one dead and the other in critical condition.

Officers responded to the 2000 block of Carmel Drive near Hancock Expressway and Circle Drive around 8 p.m. on Saturday on reports of a shooting inside a house. Police found one man already deceased from an apparent gunshot wound and second man badly injured. The surviving victim was taken to the hospital and remains in critical condition.

The man who died was identified Tuesday as 21-year-old Marcus Williams. The autopsy is now complete, and Williams' death has been ruled a homicide.

So far this year, there have been 19 homicides in Colorado Springs. Last year at this time, police say there were 24.
