Springs apartment shooting victim identified, police still hunting for shooter

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - 11 News has confirmed that one person is dead after a shooting in Colorado Springs on Thursday.

Investigations are underway at the Ridgeview Place Apartments near the 3300 block of Knoll Lane. That's right next to North Carefree Circle and North Academy Boulevard.

Officer responded to the call at 6:05 a.m. When they arrived, police found a man in a parking lot, suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he later died. The victim was identified as 27-year-old Alex Franklin.

Officers said the death is being investigated as a homicide, and they are planning to look at surveillance and talk to neighbors.

Police tell us there is no immediate threat to the public and no suspects have been taken into custody yet.
