COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - One person was killed after a car flipped in southeast Springs Monday morning.

The car landed upside down in a grassy area along the southbound lanes of Union. It was the only vehicle involved.

The crash was reported just after 10 a.m., and southbound Union was shut down shortly after. Police told 11 News speeding may have been a factor in the crash.

"It looks like that vehicle lost control, struck the curb and then rolled. At some point during that time, the driver of the vehicle -- there was only one person in that vehicle -- was ejected and that driver then died on scene," Lt. James Sokolik told 11 News.

The driver was identified by the El Paso County Coroner's Office Tuesday as 27-year-old Austin Palmer.
