FLORENCE, Colo. (KKTV) - A police chase in Florence ended with a 25-year-old's arrest and minor injuries to two officers.

Officers ran a plate check on a vehicle parked illegally in Florence Wednesday and discovered it had been stolen out of Pueblo. Just as police were doing that, a man got into the car. The police department says the officers ordered the suspect to get out of the vehicle, and he instead intentionally backed into a cruiser and sped off.

The suspect briefly drove outside Florence city limits before circling back, prompting an officer in an unmarked cruiser to try and block him. The two cars collided, then the suspect jumped out and tried to make a run for it. After a chase down Main Street and a short struggle with officers, the suspect was arrested. He has been identified as Alexander Mitchell.

One officer was hurt in the crash in downtown Florence. A second sustained injuries during the struggle that followed. The injuries to both were minor.
