COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A missing dog led to an alleged shooting, assault and attempted kidnapping in Colorado Springs late Friday night.

Police say 45-year-old Vanessa Bobian is facing a laundry list of charges for allegedly stealing her ex-girlfriend's dog, and then everything that followed.

According to police, the victim was looking for her lost dog Friday night when she discovered her ex had taken it. She went to an apartment complex in the 1900 block of East La Salle Street to confront Bobian, who allegedly grabbed a gun and fired at her once. Police say the victim ran to her car, but Bobian jumped in with her and forced her to drive. The victim complied, but managed to get away after stopping at a 7-Eleven in the 1800 block of East Platte and running inside for help.

When officers found the victim, she had been pistol-whipped several times and was seriously hurt.

The suspect left the area on foot but was soon located by police and arrested. She now faces charges of attempted homicide and first-degree assault, among others.
