Police: Officers get minor injuries during struggle with suspect

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Two men were in the El Paso County Jail Tuesday morning following a struggle with police.

The Colorado Springs Police Department said officers were called to a burglary in progress around 9:45 p.m. Monday in the 1100 block of North Academy Boulevard.

When they got to the scene, police said they found two men outside a business. Officers learned that one man, Lorenzo Candelaria, had a warrant. Police believed the second man was lying about who he was.

While officers were waiting to identify the second man, police said he tried to run away, which led to a “lengthy struggle” between him and officers.

CSPD was eventually able to identify the man as Allonte Gray. Police learned he had warrants for his arrest, as well.

The police department said Gray and the officers had minor injuries, but the officers were able to return to duty.
