1 killed on I-25 after semi-truck hits multiple cars
A 62-year-old man was killed Tuesday after a semi-truck failed to slow down for a line of cars on the interstate and hit several vehicles.
State Patrol says traffic was backed up on northbound I-25 around mile marker 109 because of an
a few miles north. The driver of a tanker-trailer came up on the traffic snarl still going full speed, State Patrol said, and collided with a number of vehicles.
Steven Aikman, who was a passenger in one of the cars hit, died at the scene. A second person suffered serious injuries, and several other drivers were also hurt.
The crash was reported at 12:40 p.m., two hours after the earlier fatal on I-25. The interstate was shut down for more than an hour in both directions and longer on the northbound side.
Charges in the crash are pending.
