Driver not charged in Pueblo auto-pedestrian crash

PUEBLO, Colo. (KKTV) - Police are still investigating an auto-pedestrian crash after a 61-year-old man was killed crossing a street in southwest Pueblo.

The victim has since been identified as 61-year-old James Montez.

Police say the man was hit by a car at Pueblo Boulevard and Ivywood just before 6 p.m. on Thursday. Pueblo Boulevard was shut down for hours from Northern Avenue to Surfwood Lane.

Officers are investigating the speed of the female driver. Police say the pedestrian is currently at fault after reportedly crossing a busy intersection in the dark outside of a crosswalk and was difficult to see.

He later died from his injuries.

Police say if they find the driver to have been speeding, she could be charged.
