COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - A pedestrian suffered serious injuries when he was hit by a car late Friday night.

Police were called to Palmer Park Boulevard and Kingsley Drive five minutes to midnight, Sgt. Raynald Issac said.

"Officers arrived on scene, they located one male on the road that had been struck by a vehicle. The male was transported to a local hospital," Issac told 11 News.

The victim was walking on the sidewalk along Palmer Park and somehow ended up in the street. Issac said they are still investigating what led up to the crash.

"He may either stumbled into the roadway or stepped off of the sidewalk, and then was hit by the vehicle that was traveling westbound," Issac said.

The driver remained on scene and will not be cited.

The pedestrian is expected to survive.
