Pedestrian gravely injured by hit-and-run driver

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Police are hunting for the driver who hit a pedestrian in an intersection and sped away, leaving the victim gravely injured.

A sergeant with the Colorado Springs Police Department told 11 News the victim lost a limb.

The crash was reported several minutes after midnight Saturday at the intersection of North Academy Boulevard and North Carefree Circle. Based on witness accounts, the victim was trying to cross Academy when a Ford sedan came barreling through the intersection. The driver was speeding and didn't miss a beat after running over the pedestrian, continuing southbound.

The car is only described as a mid-sized, dark-colored Ford and is believed to be a recent model. It should have front-end damage.
