COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Detectives say a suspect jokingly pointed a gun at his friend. Hours later, police believe the suspect actually pulled the trigger.
Davin Carrera is facing a first-degree murder charge in connection to the shoting. Officers were called to Roundtop Drive on the northeast side of the city around 3:30 a.m. Aug. 16 on a report of shots fired. When officers got to the scene, they found a man lying in the street next to a car. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to our news partners at The Gazette, a trio of men was snorting cocaine in a garage before the shooting. The Gazette reports that detectives testified in court saying the susepct allegedly pointed his pistol through the passenger window, aiming at the victim. Police say the victim was upset, and hours later the suspect again pointed his gun at the back of the victim's head.
11 News talked to a neighbor, who says she heard something in the middle of the night but wasn't sure if it was related.
"I woke up in the middle of the night hearing voices, some adult voices. Made me wonder if something was going on, but honestly, I fell right back asleep,” said Toni Vechinski.
Carrera's next hearing is set for Nov. 11th at 9 a.m.
