Police in Colorado Springs say two men who were looking at guns at a pawn shop was just a guise when they pulled out their own and tried to shoot the clerk.

It happened around 6:15 p.m. Monday at Pawn Inc., 3308 Austin Bluffs Pkwy., just west of Academy Boulevard.

Police say the men asked the clerk to look at several guns in the display case. While they were handling them, one of the men pulled out a gun of his own, pointing it at the clerk.

The other man then proceeded to put the guns in his backpack.

Police said the man pointing the gun at the clerk tried to fire it, but the gun didn't go off.

The men then ran out of the store. That's when the clerk pulled out his own gun and fired one round at the suspects, but missed, officers said.

Police said they were still investigating.
