COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Investigators have released new information in an officer-involved shooting that happened Monday morning.

The shooting happened while police were responding to a car theft on Longfellow Drive around 10:15 a.m. One of the suspects tried to run away when police got to the scene but was quickly caught.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office, which is investigating the incident, officers learned a second suspect remained at large. He was located a short time later, and officers quickly became concerned with his "erratic" behavior.

During the encounter, an officer fired his weapon but did not hit the suspect. The sheriff's office has not released any information on what led up to the shooting.

As of Thursday, the suspect has not been charged in the incident. The officer is on paid administrative leave, which is routine any time there is an officer-involved shooting.

The man arrested was identified as 24-year-old David McKnight.
