COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - With warm days like Monday, police want to remind the public more motorcyclists are expected to be on the road soon. The message comes following a serious crash on Monday.
The crash happened at about 5 p.m. along East Platte and Babcock Road just west of Powers. The eastbound lanes of Platte were closed for nearly two hours while police investigated.
Officers on scene told 11 News the motorcyclist was seriously hurt, but is expected to survive. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, which officers say likely was a life-saving decision. Speed is being investigated a possible factor; it isn't clear if the motorcyclist or the driver of the other vehicle was at fault. The driver of the other vehicle did not have serious injuries.
While this crash remains under investigation, authorities want to remind the public to be aware of motorcyclists. The "Look Twice Save a Life" campaign is another great reminder to take extra steps when traveling on roadways.
