EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (KKTV) - Deputies in El Paso County seized more than 500 pounds of processed marijuana this week.
On Thursday, the Sheriff's Office Rural Enforcement Outreach Team with assistance from Metro Vice Narcotics Intelligence Unit (Metro VNI) conducted "knock and talks" on several properties of interest in rural eastern El Paso County. A knock and talk is when law enforcement simply goes door-to-door to speak with residents.
A suspect in the 3800 block of Sengbeil Road in the Yoder area east of Colorado Springs allowed an inspection of a greenhouse. The suspect had invalid paperwork, according to the sheriff's office, and alleged that the marijuana was for the sole consumption of a family member.
A search warrant was obtained for the residence. About 536 pounds of refined marijuana along with 250 vegetative plants were found in the home. The find marks the largest seizure of refined marijuana in 2019 for the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.
Arrests in the case are pending.
